Crossing language borders with the ECCA campus

The NPLD is pleased to publish the latest edition of its Focus Reports series, dedicated to the 2026 NPLD Annual Conference held at Stockholm University on 8 May 2026. The report, authored by Lasse Vuorsola (Stockholm University), explores the achievements, limitations and future challenges linked to the implementationof the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages (ECRML) in Sweden and across Europe.  

Bringing together policymakers, researchers, minority language organisationsand public authorities from across Europe, the conference addressed key issues such as language revitalisation, monitoring mechanisms, education rights, digitalisation and the growing impact of artificial intelligence on Europe’s linguistic diversity. Thepublication also includes reflections and recommendations emerging from comparative perspectives shared by experts from Finland, Spain, Wales, the Netherlands and beyond.
