The Agjenzie regjonâl pe lenghe furlane (ARLeF – Agenzia regionale per la lingua friulana, i.e. Regional Agency for the Friulian Language) is the body having public legal status as well as administrative and financial autonomy, in charge of defining the language policy guidelines for the Friulian language and the coordination and verification of the implementation of the actions under Regional Law no. 29 of 18 December 2007 (regulations to protect, exploit and promote the Friulian language) and other regional regulations of Friulian language and culture.
The Agency promotes and supports the coordinated and integrated development of programmes of initiatives carried out by the Region and other Public Administrations of Friuli Venezia Giulia to protect the Friulian language and promote its use in all areas of communication and everyday life.
The Agency undertakes actions and offers services aimed at promoting the language in public environments – schools, public administration, local health authorities – as well as in society – music, theatres, cinemas, universities and workplaces.

Friulian is not yet taught at university level, but this is not due to a theoretical principle, since some courses study specific topics related to the language. An Interdepartmental Centre has been established to develop the Friulian language and culture, as well as the Association of Friulian Science and Technology.
