NPLD-Coppieters Campus 2025

The NPLD and the Coppieters Foundation are pleased to publish the report of the NPLD-Coppieters Campus 2025, held in Leeuwarden (Fryslân) on 6 and 7 November 2025 in collaboration with the Noordelijk Film Festival and the Province of Fryslân. The report, authored by Jordi Sebastià, explores a key question for our communities: can a language survive in the twenty-first century without access to the audiovisual universe?

Bringing together producers, distributors, filmmakers, researchers and public authorities from across Europe, the campus addressed the presence of minority languages on global streaming platforms, public funding schemes such as the Frysk Film Fund, the role of public broadcasters like EITB, Omrop Fryslân and Coimisiún na Meán, and EU instruments such as Creative Europe MEDIA. The publication also includes strategic recommendations and policy implications, from EU-level monitoring of language diversity on platforms to stronger legal frameworks and alliances among minority language institutions.
