NPLD and RISE UP to Host Language Policy Round Table in Vienna

The NPLD and the RISE UP project are joining forces to organise a language policy round table on 18 June 2025, at the University of Vienna. The event, titled: “Bridging the Gap Between Language Policy Planning and Language Policy Making”, will examine the disconnect between theoretical policy frameworks and the real-life challenges encountered in implementation.

Participants will include policymakers, academics, and institutional representatives from Catalonia, the Basque Country, Trento, Friesland, and more.

The round table will address key questions such as:

  • What are the structural obstacles that hinder policy implementation?
  • How can we overcome resistance, ensure funding, and secure political will?
  • What can we learn from each other’s experiences?

The event will take place in hybrid format, though all speakers are invited to participate in person. It will be followed by a networking lunch and streamed live online.

Registration is mandatory and free of charge: REGISTER HERE
