Istituto di Studi e Ricerche “Camillo Bellieni” | “Camillo Bellieni” Institute of Studies and Research
Istituto Bellieni is a cultural association founded in 1989, with legal personality since 2014. The institute’s main activities are the research, the promotion and the protection of the Sardinian language, but also historical-anthropological, literary and historical-legal research related to Sardinia.
The institute headquarters is located in the historic centre of Sassari, a small city in the north-west of Sardinia, and it is provided with a 20-seat classroom and a library with about 4,000 books. Several lines of cooperation have been established in the recent years with entities such as Sardinian small towns administrations, cultural associations, Sardinian and international universities and individuals dealing with linguistic minorities.
Eighteen collaborators deal with different tasks in various fields of expertise: from linguistics, to literature, history, philosophy, law, as well as verbal and non-verbal communication.
The main goals of the institute are the promotion and protection of linguistic and cultural heritage of the different communities and to enhance the visibility and usability of local languages. A range of conferences, seminars, educational workshops, training courses, publications and research is undertaken to accomplish their goals.
